Undergraduate - Arts

An Arts Degree involves the study of the liberal arts, the sciences, or both.

With the IUMC, the study of Arts aims to advance the students’ knowledge and the fostering of learning, through its creativity, innovation and excellence in research and its contribution to the development of the individual and the wider social and cultural life of global Ireland.

The IUMC, in the Arts, responds to the social, cultural and economic challenges of the modern world through an approach that is international, multi-cultural and inter-disciplinary.

Each university work to enable students to have confidence in innovative and creative forms of thought, to assess evidence and probabilities and to develop informed critical judgment. As such, the degree courses are designed to equip students with the critical skills and analytical abilities required to understand the richness and diversity of human civilisation as expressed in its history, environment, language and culture; and in its ideas, values, behaviour and social organisation.

Members of staff are all highly qualified, experienced scholars of international repute, committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning.  The programmes of study offer formative interaction between student and teacher.  The teaching provided is at the cutting edge of each of the disciplines, research-led and informed by the productive research output of serious scholarship.

Is this the right programme for you?

Potential students should have a strong appetite for reading, argument, and analysis, and be eager to explore different kinds of knowledge, to consider the informed published views of others, and finally to articulate and defend their own opinions and judgment.
